Acting Principal

Hello friends

This term has certainly travelled by fast and here we are in Week 11 of Term One preparing for Easter and for our Sports Day.

If you thought that Term One was a busy term and has travelled by fast, there is probably a good reason for that. We have had engaged student learning for 52 school days and one public holiday and one Pupil Free day.

We have experienced and celebrated:

4 sports carnivals
10 whole school events
3 class excursions
8 Sacramental celebrations

Wow, what at term…

Palm Sunday

As Jesus rode along, people kept spreading their cloaks on the road.  As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, saying,

“Blessed is the king
who comes in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven,
and glory in the highest heaven!”

Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, order your disciples to stop.”  He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out.” Lk 19:33 - 40

Acting Deputy Principal

So here we are at Week 11. It has been a full term of learning and activities and the children and staff will be heading off for a well-deserved holiday break as we have all worked hard since the start of term and have achieved so much. I have enjoyed working in this role this term and am excited to continue next term supporting Joe as he returns from Long Service Leave. He has had a well-deserved break and brilliant trip to Japan. I also wish Matt all the best at St John Bosco next term.

Thank you also to the many parents and volunteers who have assisted us during the term. All that is accomplished at Star of the Sea would not be possible without the wonderful support of you all.

From the APRIM

Palm Sunday is the only Sunday we hear two Gospels proclaimed.  Many in Jerusalem had been hoping for a warrior Messiah, but, what did they get? A lowly figure riding on a donkey. Still they shouted ‘Hosanna’ and were filled with hope. A few days later though it was a different story. ‘Crucify him’ they cried, and Jesus was expelled from Jerusalem bearing a cross.

Jesus of Nazareth

revolutionary non-violent activist

Divine Prince of Peace.

Where do you find yourself in the crowd: a follower, a worshipper, a schemer or an enemy? What will you say to Jesus as he passes you, carrying his cross, on the way to his Passion?

Thank you to all the children who ran Project Compassion stalls. We have raised $2000 for Caritas. An amazing effort.
