Religious Education

As a Catholic school, our faith is at the centre of all we do.

At Star of the Sea School, we acknowledge that parents are the primary educators of faith and we aim to support this through our mission and teaching. We aim to educate in a God-centred learning community within the Catholic tradition, also embracing the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart charism and acknowledge the Mercy tradition.

Made in the Image of God (MITIOG)

The Made in the Image of God program (MITIOG) supports parents and carers in their role as educators.

MITIOG explores the beliefs that humans are made in God's image and likeness, is based on the Catholic moral teaching and underpins its teaching about the dignity of the human person and the sacredness of sexuality.

The program continually invites students to discover who God is in the midst of their relationships and capacity for love.  It covers areas such as:

  • Being Human
  • Being Sexual
  • Being Connected
  • Being Moral
