Over the past week the Year 3s have been making "Thank You" cards for people doing incredible things in the world at the moment. So far cards have been delivered to very appreciative staff at Foodland and Coles, and our wonderful school cleaning staff. Cards for our amazing doctors and nurses are next.

Canteen

The lunch and recess will continue to be provided as normal and please be assured that the canteen’s hygiene practices are of the highest standards.

This week the Canteen became cashless. Please place lunch orders including recess via the QKR app. If recess is included in the order, there is a process in place for your child to collect it at recess from the Canteen.

I have started the Roster for next term and will load that onto the website soon, this may change as we go forward, so please keep yourself updated if you are on it.

Canteen Manager

Reporting an absence

As of Term One this year, all Catholic Primary Schools have implemented a program to record absentees called SEQTA.

As with any new implementation we experienced some issues which we are now confident we have sorted.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to send an SMS to notify the school that your child(ren) will be absent from school.

The new system provides parents with 2 options to notify the school of an absence:

The 2 options to notify an absence:

  1. Call 8115 7400 and press 1
  2. Email us at absent@star.catholic.edu.au with the subject being ABSENT and provide us with the name of your child, their class and the reason for the absence.

If you email the teacher your child’s absence, please also let the Front Office know by using the same email address absent@star.catholic.edu.au

If your child is late any time after 9am they must report to the Front Office to sign in so we can record their arrival on SEQTA. Also children leaving school before 3:05pm must be signed out from the Front Office so the early departure can be recorded.

We apologise for any confusion and thank you for your support as we adjust to the new program.

Any queries please contact Vivian DePalma

Pupil Free Days

We have received information from the Premier declaring that a pupil free week will occur in Week 11 (Term 1) for public schools.  The Catholic Education Office Director has announced that the same arrangements will occur for CESA schools.

Given that Friday 10 April (Good Friday) is a public holiday, there will be four pupil free days from Monday 6 April to Thursday 9 April.  The last day for students in Term 1 will therefore be Friday 3 April.

Prayer 2.jpg

Prayer

Let us pray together for doctors, hospital staff and volunteers who are giving their own lives to save others. And for civil leaders, for those who have to make decisions at this time. All these people are the pillars defending us in this crisis ... The God of tenderness will heal us of all life's wounds and of all the bad things we have done. Returning to God means returning to an embrace, the embrace of the Creator.
(Pope Francis, homily, 20 March 2020)

From the APRIM

This weekend the Foley family was attending a wedding at St Aloysius church, Sevenhill, with the reception at a local winery. Well, the wedding was postponed with the young couple sending a tearful, apologetic email. How many people and businesses have been affected? Lots, but through this there has been lots to be thankful for. Our families are well, family from Italy hope they might be able to attend the wedding in the future, our accommodation generously refunded us in full and people have been kind, understanding and supportive of each other.

However, you may be finding it challenging to feel calm and peaceful. Not sleeping? Try the CALM APP Our inclination can be to check our news feed or watch the news 24/7, so here are some common-sense ideas to stay positive: Limit the news, exercise, dress up ( red was the lipstick colour of choice for many women in the Second World War), be kind and patient with yourself, pray for others, have fun cooking one of grandma’s old school recipes, revisit your book collection, organise one drawer, but most of all, stay in touch. In Rabbi Kanefsky’s words: “Every hand that we don't shake must become a phone call that we place.”

Let’s dance as people of God:  All the World Clap Your Hands

God Bless,
Stella Foley

Wheels Wednesday

To get our minds off of COVID-19 the Year 5 and 6 students enjoyed bringing their wheels to school. It was great fun watching them have fun. Even the big kids enjoyed the distraction. Next week is the Year 3 and 4s turn..🛹
