August 2018 Meeting

16.08.18

Ryan Scott tabled the MDC report and informed the Board that the plans for the refurbishment of the centre is proceeding to plan using the Fund My Neighbourhood grant received last year. Whilst not all items on the list will be able to be included the MDC Management Committee is pleased with the amount of work that will be incorporated in the refurbishment. A new entrance, a sea cave for the aquariums, a Kaurna learning space, a land to sea room and new main auditorium will make a significant difference to the MDC. Architects Phillip Pilkington have done an outstanding job designing and documenting the scope of works and have put the plans out to tender. Tenders close at the end of August and a builder will be appointed to undertake the work.

Joe reported that the Stage 1 building development was gathering momentum. The school’s Architect, Edge Architects have been working on both the interior and exterior design of the building and have presented three possible designs that will incorporate three new purpose built classrooms, a Music Room and a new Multi-Purpose Room. The Board agreed to present the three designs of the exterior of the new buildings to the school community for consultation and opinion. Parents are invited to vote 1,2 and 3 on the building design they most prefer. One being the design you most prefer and like the look of.

Robert Pedicini reported on the school’s finances and indicated that the budget is on track and finances in all key areas of the school continue to be strong with minimal change since June. The School Board considered several proposals regarding school fees for 2019. A letter will be sent home later in the term advising parents of the 2019 fees once the school’s 5 Year Financial Plan is signed off by CESA.

The next School Board meeting will be held in September.
