Canberra Trip

Next week our Year 6 and Year 7 students are heading off for the inaugural Canberra Trip. Taking over one hundred students interstate, is no small feat of organisation. I know the senior students will have a wonderful time visiting Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, the Australian Mint, the Institute of Sport and the National Science and Technology Centre, Questacon.

Thank you to the Year 6 and 7 teachers for making the opportunity possible and for being prepared to give up their own family time to be away. We look forward hearing about the learning and fun, and we wish everyone safe travels.

Dad's Breakfast

There are many traditions and events at Star of the Sea and the Dad's Breakfast is one event not be missed. Tomorrow Friday 31st August all Dads and significant males in the lives of our children are invited to join us for breakfast on the school oval. Breakfast is served at 8am. The children can play on the oval and the dads can meet other dads. When the school bell goes at 8.45am we invite the dads to take the children to their classrooms, settle them in and then head off to work. It might be helpful to know where your child's classroom is before Friday.

Please be aware this is not a breakfast for the kids; Dads Only! Please make sure that your children have a good breakfast before school. The purpose of this day is to honour the special place of Dads and significant males in the family, spoil our Dads, provide a chance for Dads to network and allow the Dads a chance to take the children to class in the morning. I hope all Dads have a great Father's Day on Sunday.

This week is Mrs McCormick's (Yr 3MR) last week before she heads off for some well-earned Long Service Leave. Janine and the family are travelling to Europe for a trip of a lifetime. We wish Janine safe travels and a most enjoyable and relaxing holiday.

Enjoy the weekend ahead and with 0 football it will be a quiet one for sure.
