NAPLAN

Last week saw the completion of all NAPLAN testing. These tests, as you would be aware ran over three days with ‘catch up tests’ for students who were absent occurring on Friday last week. All of our students in Years 3 and 5 conducted themselves diligently during the testing albeit with some national technical issues. These were managed by teachers and IT staff to eleviate any further stress to our students. Thank you to all the teachers and parents for their support of our students during this time.

DOUBLE PARKING DURING AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP

We have received complaints about cars lining up and congesting traffic on Military Road during and after school pick up. We appreciate that there is limited space, however if you are double parking while waiting in the line or if your child is not at your car in a timely manner, we ask that you do a loop around the school rather than break traffic laws. I would expect infringements from police will be handed out soon if this issue continues. Thank you for your cooperation.

SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY: ABORIGINAL CULTURAL COMPETENCY: Friday Week 6

On Friday 7th June we will have a school closure day for the whole staff to engage in an Aboriginal Cultural workshop. This will be facilitated by Jonathan Lindsay-Tjapaltjarri Hermawan (Principal Consultant Fire & Water Consultancies) Matthew Jolly and Chris Hyde (CESA Inclusion and Learning Consultants - Aboriginal Education). The aim of the day will focus on our school context and explore why we need to incorporate ACC in Catholic schools, explore the idea of identity and culture, discuss our shared history, revisit Reconciliation and conclude with a fire smoking ceremony. It promises to be a productive Professional Development day. Please note that our Year 5 students will be returning from their three day camp on that Friday afternoon.

Wishing you a great weekend ahead!

Kind regards
Kelly Manera
